Big gains and tragic setbacks

Harvard professor and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Henry Louis Gates, Jr., was on campus Monday to present a program titled “Black America Since MLK.” The Greenville News was there to cover his talk. “To paraphrase Dickens, for some of us it’s the best of times, and for other people, it’s the worst of times,” Gates told an audience of 600 in the Younts Conference Center.
