Myanmar, Interrupted
Last week, officials announced that Myanmar is slated to go to the ballot box on Nov. 8 for what will be the country’s first open general election in 25 years. Understanding the election’s political stakes requires a look back at the past few years, which have seen some promising developments. Brandon Tensley, a freelance journalist and 2012 Furman graduate, does just that in a piece for Foreign Policy. Tensley graduated from Furman with a degree in political science and German, and earned a M.Phil. degree in European Politics and Society at the University of Oxford in England.
