Choral groups to perform Oct. 22

furman-singers-largerThe Furman Men’s and Women’s Chorale and Furman Singers will present their fall concert Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. in Daniel Memorial Chapel.

The concert is free and open to the public, and is made possible in part through the Nelle and Ken Brown Music Fund.

The program includes Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols, Op. 28,” and traditional hymns and spirituals by Ralph Vaughan Williams, William Byrd, Blake Henson, Mack Wilberg, Frank Ticheli, and John Clements, among others.

Kevin Edens ‘17 (Marietta) is accompanist for the Men’s and Women’s Chorale. Performing on harp is Helen Rifas, principal harpist with the Greensboro and Winston-Salem Symphonies and adjunct harp instructor at Wake Forest University.

Grace Odell ‘16 (Pelzer) is accompanist for the Furman Singers. Furman organ professor Charles Tompkins will perform “O Clap Your Hands” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” with the Singers.

Furman music professor Vivian Hamilton conducts the Men’s and Women’s Chorale, and the Furman Singers perform under the direction of Hugh Floyd.
