Dear Campus Community,
Effective today, the university will move to “masks optional” in non-academic buildings, regardless of group size (this does not apply to CLPs). All other masking requirements in academic buildings and the PAC remain in effect.
The next anticipated change will be moving to “masks optional” in the PAC fitness center and PAC basketball court after the academic program hours. There have been some positive cases that may have arisen after exposures in the fitness center in particular, so we are asking for your patience and adherence to protocols designed for the safety of all users for just a little while longer.
As masking and other requirements are adjusted in continued expectation of improvements in campus and community COVID cases, the Public Health and Safety Advisory Group strongly recommends that students, faculty and staff continue to mask indoors when in high-density settings (on or off campus) to curtail the cycle of transmission.
Continue to isolate immediately when symptomatic
Students who have tested positive, as well as those who are symptomatic but not yet tested, should immediately self-isolate, remain in their campus residence and submit a LiveSafe Health Survey or contact the Earle Student Health Center (ESHC). As always, students are responsible for managing communication with their professors about any absence, whether COVID-19 related or not. Faculty and students may contact the Academic Deans Office with any specific questions.
COVID-19 dashboard
There were 10 positive student cases reported this past week by the Earle Student Health Center (ESHC), and 8 positive employee cases reported by Human Resources. The Furman Focused Dashboard was updated yesterday and will continue to be updated each Thursday.
Thanks to your efforts, 85% of the student body is on record as vaccinated and boosted (if eligible), and we continue to receive updated booster records daily. We are grateful for your continued diligence in keeping our community healthy and safe.
Snatch a Snack Truck
The Snatch a Snack Truck will make an appearance in the residence hall areas on Monday, Feb. 14, starting at 8:30 p.m. It will be a Valentine’s Day theme, with chocolate fondue.
