Margaret McCollum

Hey y’all! My name is Margaret McCollum, and I am a rising senior from Trent Woods, NC, studying Philosophy on the Pre-Law track. I am involved in Greek Life and am the Vice President of Recruitment and Marketing for my sorority. I am also a part of the Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB), where I help to plan events for the student body. Additionally, I am a member of the Pre-Law society and enjoy networking with fellow students and Furman alumni. I also work at the Office of Student Involvement, where I help with front desk operations and planning trivia and bingo nights for students. In my free time, I love to go on lake walks, watch the Greenville Swamp Rabbits play hockey, explore downtown Greenville, and try all of the fun restaurants it has to offer.

On campus, my favorite meal is a seasonal Paddock salad with chicken, but I will always be up for dessert at the Dining Hall (DH)! My favorite Furman tradition is the last day of class (LDOC) where the seniors jump in the fountains in front of the library – I can’t wait to jump in one day! My biggest piece of advice for students going through the college process is to keep an open mind; you never know what might surprise you!

Eli Morcos

Hey! My name is Eli Morcos, and I am a rising junior from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am majoring in Economics and English (writing track).

I’m involved in club tennis, the Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB), FUNC radio, and the Jewish Student Association on campus. In my free time, I love walking around Furman, cooking, and playing tennis.

Dani Recinos

Hey guys! My name is Dani Recinos and I’m a rising sophomore from Greenville, SC studying Politics and Communications with a minor in Visual Strategy on the pre-law track. At Furman, I’m involved in FUSAB (Furman University Student Activities Board), Greek Life, Admissions Ambassadors, and currently an Admissions Summer Intern! Some of my favorite Furman traditions are the Fall O Carnival, Homecoming, and HAVOC. When touring colleges, I wanted a place where I felt like more than a number or a statistic. Furman made me feel the exact opposite; the campus, the community, the support and resources are all reasons why I decided to call Furman home!

Colin Alfaro

Hey! My name is Colin and I am a Senior here at Furman majoring in Business Administration. I am from Huntersville, NC (a small town just north of Charlotte).I am involved in the Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB), Greek Life, and I am a former Orientation Leader. My favorite meal at Furman is quesadillas in the DH! Lastly, my favorite traditions are our annual Spring Concert and LDOC.

Ella Boone

Hello! My name is Ella Boone, and I’m a summer intern at the admissions office! I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and I’m entering my junior year at Furman.

I’m double majoring in Psychology and English, with a focus on writing. I am heavily involved in various organizations on campus, including Improvable Cause, Furman Pauper Players, Order of Furman Theatre, Catholic Campus Ministry, and Greek Life. My favorite place to eat on campus is Late Night Bread & Bowl, and my favorite spot off campus is Sidewall. My favorite Furman tradition is the Last Day of Classes (LDOC), where all the seniors bring pool floaties and jump into the fountains together. If I had to give prospective students a piece of advice, I would say start early and stay organized throughout the college process. Taking notes is a great way to remember everything you learned on tours when making those big decisions. I’m looking forward to this summer and getting to know the ropes of the admissions office!

Betsy Rush

Hey there! I’m Betsy Rush, a proud member of Furman’s Class of 2026, double majoring in English Literature and Psychology. I’m from Simpsonville, SC (right outside Greenville), and when I’m not studying on campus, you’ll probably find me doing what I love most in Greenville—line dancing or visiting coffee shops.

At Furman, I stay actively involved through multiple roles across campus: Worship Coordinator for FCA, member of the Club Powerlifting Team, and student representative on the Library & IT Committee and the Cothran Center’s Student Advisory Team. I also serve as Vice President and Public Resources Officer for Sigma Tau Delta, our English Honor Society, and work as a Paladin Admissions Liaison to support prospective students.

Furman has endless fun traditions, but my favorite (hear me out) is Study Day, which is a campus-wide pause before finals full of therapy dogs, free massages, and professors serving us breakfast at night.

After Furman, I hope to channel my love for writing and people into a career in copywriting or editing—ideally working with marketing teams, either here in Greenville or remotely. I also deeply want to become a certified life coach someday, and I enjoy helping others find clarity and direction in their own journeys.

Bre Jackson

I’m Bre Jackson, and I’m a rising sophomore from Greenville, SC. I’m studying Health Science on the Pre-Med track.

I love sitting outside at the Paddock, it’s one of my favorite things to do on campus. I do my work there while I enjoy the good food they serve. My favorite Furman tradition is Moonlight Breakfast during study week. It is such a fun break from finals stress, my friends and I ate together and even did line dances right in the middle of the dining hall! My go-to campus meal is a burger, fries, and sweet tea from the Paddock and it’s a meal exchange, too 🙂 Off campus, one of my favorite places to eat in Greenville is Gather GVL, I love the variety of food and the fun atmosphere!

I’m involved in:

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Furman University Gospel Ensemble (FUGE)

Student League for Black Culture (SLBC)

Furman University NAACP

Resident Assistant (RA)/First-Year Advisor (FRAD)

My advice for incoming students is: Ask questions, take notes, and keep an open mind, you never know what opportunities may come your way!
