Continued Support for Campus Community

December 16, 2022

Dear Furman Community,

You may have heard that Professor Healy’s attorney has filed a lawsuit against Furman.

While we cannot comment on pending litigation, we understand that this and other news related to this issue continue to be distressing for our community. We have heard in our listening sessions this past semester that students, faculty and staff are feeling hurt and betrayed by thoughts, words and actions that understandably raise in their minds concerns about inclusivity and belonging at Furman – concerns that transcend politics, cutting to the very core of decency and mutual respect.

Furman’s top priority will always be our students, faculty and staff. You matter to us. You belong here. And we take seriously our responsibility to ensure that you can learn, teach, work and grow in a safe and supportive environment.

We hope you continue to listen and share your perspective by attending future listening sessions. Meanwhile, if you need support, please contact any of the following offices, some of which may have limited hours over the holiday break.
