**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Furman has made the difficult decision to suspend summer programs for 2020. We look forward to seeing you on campus in 2021!**

 

Below is a listing of athletic programs for young people that will take place on Furman’s campus during the Summer of 2020. Additional programs are in the process of being scheduled; this section is updated as information is received. Both sessions of Brett Harker Baseball Youth Camps feature a Full Day Camp for ages 9-14 and a half-day Mini Camp for ages 6-8.

Basketball Camps


Jackie Carson Girls Basketball Camps

The 2020 Girls Basketball Camp Program at Furman University, conducted by Coach Jackie Carson, will feature a variety of camps that will be available for all kids ages 4-18.

Individual camp: June 7-10 – Ages 8 and up

Lil’ Ballers camp: June 8-10 – Ages 3-8

Elite camp: June 10-11 – Grades 9-12

Team camp: June 12-14 – Middle school, high school and AAU teams

Bob Richey Boys Basketball Camp

Individual Camp II: June 22-25

Camps will be comprised of on-court sessions along with activities and short lectures by the Furman coaching staff. The early morning sessions will be devoted to basic skills such as ball handling, shooting and passing. As the camp progresses, camp coaches will implement skills in team-related activities and contests. By the end of camp, you will have had quality instruction from Division I coaches and players, improved your overall basketball skill level, made new friends, and had a fun time! Cross Country/Track Camps


Furman University Cross Country Camp

At the Furman University Cross Country Camp, our goal is to stimulate a love for running in young athletes (grades 7-12) by showing them how to accelerate their progress and success.  By working with experienced and successful coaches, we are able to offer an unforgettable growth experience — no matter what your skill level.

Our mission is to provide athletes with the tools to improve and to enjoy lifelong running.

Cycling Camps


Furman Mountain Biking Camp

Session 1: June 22-24

This is the fifteenth year for the basic mountain bike day camp for girls and boys at Furman University.  The suggested age is eight to 12 years old.  The camp is three full days from 8:30am to 4:00pm daily.  The cost of camp includes lunch daily on campus and a t-shirt and certificate upon completion.  Participants are required to have their own mountain bike and properly fitted helmet. Instruction includes bicycle riding safety, bike safety checks, proper mounting and dismounting, balance techniques, negotiating obstacles, proper breaking and gearing, climbing and descending hills and descending steps.  Road safety riding is also practiced.  Extensive trail riding is done in groups designated for different rider skill levels.  Participants should be in good physical condition and capable of riding in rough terrain.

The camp is conducted by Furman University Police officers with specially selected past participants and assistants.  The student/counselor ration is usually four to one.

The Paladin Elite Camps are designed to provide participants with a day of detailed football instruction focused on individual improvement. The Furman football staff will instruct ampers on the techniques and fundamentals specific to his position on the field. It is our goal that each camper leaves having become a more complete football player. Each session of Elite Camp is identical to the others, so it is not necessary to attend more than one session.

An intensive, three-day residential camp for rising 8th-12th graders focused on improving the fundamentals of each player.

Offensive Line/Defensive Line Position Camp

Participants in this co-ed camp, for players of all levels ages 9-16, will enjoy and benefit from the excellent facilities at Furman’s state-of-the-art tennis complex, thanks to 4 indoor and 13 outdoor courts.  They receive extensive individual instruction from highly skilled instructors who are involved with all aspects of the program.
