Furman Sportsmedicine Center has shared an affiliation with the Medical University of South Carolina since 2002. The Sportsmedicine Center has been an active participant in the Medical University’s Clinical Education Program in Physical Therapy. The physical therapy students are provided clinical education in the specialties of outpatient rehabilitation, orthopedic physical therapy, and aquatics. In 2008, the Sportsmedicine Center was asked to provide clinical experiences for the Medical University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The Center offers these students a unique clinical experience with exposure to a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. The clinical practicum includes a varied patient clientele ranging from our collegiate athlete to the geriatric patient.
Beginning in 2003 the Center also shares an affiliation with Greenville Technical College’s Physical Therapist Clinical Education Program. Students are provided clinical education in the specialties of orthopedic physical therapy, outpatient rehabilitation, and aquatics.
