Coordinator of Teacher to Teacher Residency Program; Clinical Faculty
Shameera Virani joined the clinical faculty in the Education Department in 2019. She is actively involved with students at the beginnings of their careers as educators teaching best practices and strategies to better facilitate instruction and maximize student engagement and learning. In addition, as the Coordinator of Furman’s Teacher to Teacher Residency Program, she serves as the liaison between Furman and partner school districts and works very closely with teacher candidates and their cooperating teachers, supervisors, and mentors. She has held a variety of roles as an educator, serving as a teacher evaluator, literacy coach, and fifth-grade teacher in Spartanburg School District Six, as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina Upstate, and as Director of Admissions at New Horizon School in Irvine, California.
