Originally from Louisiana, Officer Chauvin graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor's degree in homeland security in 2015. In 2016, Chauvin joined the Louisiana Army National Guard and served as a medic with the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team for six years. He deployed to Iraq for twelve months and was awarded the Combat Medic Badge, among other medals, for treatment of patients under hostile fire. In addition to policing, Officer Chauvin works as an Emergency Medical Technician.
