Amy Yang Hazlett has served as principal bassoon with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra since 2006. She was featured as a soloist with the orchestra in Mozart's Bassoon Concerto under the baton of music director and conductor Edvard Tchivzhel in January 2009.

Born in Taiwan, Hazlett was chosen as principal bassoon of the Taichung Philharmonic Orchestra in Taiwan at the age of 18. She came to the United States as the winner of the Evergreen/Maryland Governor Scholarship Competition. She has held the position of principal bassoon with the Augusta Symphony, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and The Woodlands Symphony in Texas. She has also served as second bassoon with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra. She was co-principal bassoon with the Missouri Festival Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, Hazlett has performed with the San Diego Symphony, the Jacksonville Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, the South Carolina Philharmonic, the Charlotte Symphony, the Key West Symphony, and the Iris Symphony.

As a soloist, Hazlett was chosen to participate in the 48th Prague Spring International Competition. She was also the winner of the Mary Graham Lasley Competition and the Baltimore Music Club Senior Woodwind Competition. She was a Finalist in the Koussevitzsky Competition in New York City, and the Curtis Institute Young Artist Competition in Philadelphia.
