Alex Marinelli joined the Furman athletics staff as the department’s assistant director of development in the spring of 2022.

“We are so excited to have Alex join our staff,” said senior associate athletics director/executive director of athletic development Erin Wissing at the time of Marinelli's hiring. “His energy and enthusiasm for Furman Athletics is palpable, and he has already made an impact in a short period of time. I am excited for our donor base to get to know Alex and look forward to accomplishing great things with him on our team.”

Prior to joining the Furman development staff, Marinelli served as the annual fund coordinator for the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M, where he coordinated solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship efforts for the foundation. In addition to holding responsibilities within the Young Alumni and Student Foundation programs, Marinelli also supervised and managed a staff of over 120 concierge team members and was responsible for premium seating and hospitality needs within Kyle Field, Blue Bell Park, and Davis Diamond.

Marinelli also has previous athletics administration experience at Villanova, where he served as the assistant to the athletic director from 2019 through 2020.

A native of Hyde Park, N.Y., Marinelli received a bachelor of science degree in sports medicine in 2019 from Marist College, where he also competed as a baseball student-athlete.
