Pathways to a Successful Second-year Experience

The second year presents its own challenges and questions for many students. This Pathways session is designed to guide second-year students and their families through the maze of concerns and help them consider the way students can use their network of advisors and mentors and associated campus resources to clarify students’ areas of interest, determine a major/career path, and thrive in the second year of college.

This session is led by Brad Harmon, Assistant Dean for the First-Year and Second-Year Experience, and Jason Cassidy, Associate Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students.

Directions to the Pathways Session from Trone Student Center atrium:

If entering the Trone Student Center on the 2nd level (from the direction of Daniel Chapel and the James B. Duke Library), you will proceed through the atrium and then turn left, passing the fire place and lounge area.  Proceed up a small flight of stairs (handicap access ramp also available to the right) and then veer to the right.  Proceed down a short hall before taking another right down a longer hallway lined with locked cabinets.  Room 208 will be the last door on the left.  There will be signage and personnel within the building to help guide you.

If entering the Trone Student Center from the ground level (by the bookstore and P2X mail center), you will proceed upstairs. At the top of the stairs take an immediate right. Proceed up a small flight of stairs (handicap access ramp also available to the right) and then veer to the right.  Proceed down a short hall before taking another right down a longer hallway lined with locked cabinets.  Room 208 will be the last door on the left.  There will be signage and personnel within the building to help guide you.
