The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) represents Furman University in all legal and regulatory matters and provides advice and counsel to the Board of Trustees, the President, and university officials in their official capacities. The OGC also supervises the activities of outside counsel who may be retained to assist with particular matters requiring specialized expertise. University personnel should not contact outside counsel concerning university business without prior consultation with the OGC. Similarly, all communications from outside attorneys should be referred to the OGC.

Requests for legal assistance may be directed to ogc@furman.edu or 864.294.2100. Please note that the General Counsel and the Associate General Counsel are employed for the sole and exclusive representation of Furman University. Legal counsel and representation is available only on legal matters affecting university operations and interests.
