While GOP candidates like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott would like to fill the air waves with where they stand on issues, the economy, international relations, health care and such, they instead must respond to the chatter emanating from former President Donald Trump and his legal woes.

Furman University’s Danielle Vinson, a professor of politics and international affairs, spoke to Niall Stanage of The Hill about the quandary.

“Every time they turn around, they are being asked to comment on his [Trump’s] latest troubles, and many of them are not happy about that,” Vinson said. “The Nikki Haleys and Tim Scotts would much rather talk about something else. But anybody who is interested in becoming the frontrunner is going to have to find a way to knock him off.” The article also appeared in the Lexington Herald-Leader (Kentucky) and The Charlotte Observer.
