News article cites Furman University study
A study by The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities at Furman University, The Institute for the Advancement of Community Health at Furman, and LiveWell Greenville is cited in a Greenville News article about food insecurity. It found that 25 percent of Greenville’s Nicholtown households receive SNAP benefits or cash public assistance, making the neighborhood the most food-insecure in the county. The article noted that 53 percent of students in Greenville County Schools are eligible for free or reduced meals, and 45,000 people in the county face food insecurity.
