Lozano-Alonso comments on the future of Hispanic entrepreneurship

WalletHub surveyed the best cities for Hispanic entrepreneurship and tapped several minority-business experts for a recent article. Furman University’s Angélica Lozano-Alonso, faculty director of The Hill Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was included among four panel members who weighed in on the state of Hispanic business in the U.S. Lozano-Alonso believes growth of Latino business is a key factor in a thriving economy. “The Latino community has a lot of energy and desire to contribute to their communities,” she said. “Entrepreneurship opens up doors for them that might otherwise be closed and allows them to control their own success. They see needs that are not being met by their communities and create businesses and services to fill those needs.”

Lozano-Alonso is also a professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Furman. She holds a bachelor’s from the University of Colorado and a master’s and doctorate from Cornell University.
