In Charles Davis’ quest to compile recipes for a new cookbook celebrating Furman University’s 200th anniversary, local news sources are helping spread the word. Davis, Furman first gentleman, put out a call for family recipes for inclusion in his second cookbook, “In the Kitchen with Furman: Celebrating 200 Years.” Food Writer Lillia Callum-Penso of The Post and Courier sat down with Davis at White Oaks to talk about the collection set for release in 2026. Hyper local platform GVLtoday also ran a story.

Davis said the cookbooks that inspire him most are the ones contributed by communities, so submissions are open to anyone with a connection to Furman – alumni to friends. The deadline for recipes, and the stories that go with them, is July 31. All unpublished recipes submitted will be archived online after the book is published.
