Internationally known conductor John Nelson is in residence at Furman all week, giving master classes and preparing the orchestra and several choral ensembles for a April 15 performance of Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No. 2.” In advance of Nelson’s residency, Furman Symphony Orchestra conductor Tom Joiner rehearsed the musicians while choral conductor Hugh Floyd  prepared the Furman Singers and Furman chorales.  The Greenville News caught up with Nelson before he arrived on campus.
