Furman earns national recognition in 2027 college rankings

Furman University continues to earn recognition from national and regional publications for its academic programs, faculty and undergraduate experience. Recent rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Niche, The Princeton Review, and TIME highlight Furman’s standing nationally, among liberal arts institutions and across South Carolina.

In its 2027 Best Colleges rankings, Furman tied for No. 57 among National Liberal Arts Colleges in U.S. News & World Report and tied for No. 54 among Top Private Schools. Furman earned additional recognition in several categories focused on the undergraduate experience, continuing its climb in First-Year Experiences by moving up five spots, from No. 18 to No. 13 nationally. The university also maintained high marks for innovation and undergraduate teaching.

Niche’s 2027 rankings also recognized Furman nationally and statewide, including a No. 32 ranking among liberal arts colleges nationally and a No. 3 ranking among all colleges in South Carolina. Furman ranked No. 1 among liberal arts colleges in the state.

The Princeton Review included Furman in its Best 392 Colleges for 2027, a group selected from more than 2,000 colleges the publication monitors each year. Rather than ranking the 392 institutions from first to last, the annual guide recognizes colleges the publication considers among the nation’s best for undergraduate education.

Furman was also included among TIME’s Best Colleges for 2027, ranking No. 295 nationally.

Together, the rankings reflect Furman’s continued strength as a nationally recognized liberal arts university, with distinctions spanning academics, teaching, innovation and the undergraduate experience. Across different measures and methodologies, they highlight the university’s commitment to providing students with a rigorous, engaged and highly personalized education.
