Furman University to mark Bicentennial with special campus events on Feb. 12
Furman University will commemorate its bicentennial milestone with a full day of reflection, learning and celebration on Thursday, Feb. 12, honoring 200 years of shared history and institutional excellence.
As the university begins its third century, Furman will gather members of its campus community for several signature events recognizing the people, purpose and traditions that have shaped Furman across generations.
A live stream of the event will also be available starting at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The Feb. 12 bicentennial observance will include the following events:
Bicentennial Convocation
A formal gathering to reflect on Furman’s history, mission and the path forward as the university enters its third century.
10:00 a.m. | McAlister Auditorium
Bicentennial Lecture
Dr. Courtney Tollison will present insights from her new bicentennial publication exploring pivotal moments in Furman’s evolution.
2:00 p.m. | Watkins Room, Trone Student Center
Time Capsule Reveal
A special unveiling of artifacts from Furman’s past, offering an opportunity to reflect on the legacy being built for future generations.
3:00 p.m. | Duke Library
Furman Family Celebration
The day will conclude with a champagne toast honoring the contributions and relationships that make Furman extraordinary.
4:00–5:00 p.m. | Timmons Arena
Furman’s bicentennial year recognizes a once-in-a-lifetime moment in the university’s history and celebrates the Furman family – past, present and future.
