Furman is monitoring Imelda

Sept. 28, 5:50  p.m. The National Weather Service expects very little impact in the Upstate from Tropical Storm Imelda. Unless conditions change dramatically we will not provide another update on this storm.



Sept. 27, 11:10 a.m.
— As of this morning, the National Weather Service says confidence in the storm’s potential track and its intensity is low, and it’s too early to know the impact on our area.

The Furman University Police Department will continue to work with the National Weather Service to watch the forecast and monitor conditions on campus, and will send emergency notifications as needed. Sept. 26, 1 p.m. — Furman University is watching a storm system in the Atlantic that is expected to form into Tropical Storm Imelda. Some current models suggest Imelda might bring heavy rainfall and windy conditions to the South Carolina Upstate, including Furman’s campus, early next week.

The Furman University Police Department will continue to work with the National Weather Service to monitor conditions on campus and will send emergency notifications as needed.
