What Ought a Physician Do? Health Care Professionals and the Spiritual Concerns of Their Patients

November 1, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

“What Ought a Physician Do? Health Care Professionals and the Spiritual Concerns of Their Patients” (Program 1)

November 1, 7:00 p.m., Younts Conference Center

This event is intended for Health Care Professionals, Medical Students, Furman Faculty, and Furman MSCEM students. If seats are available, it will be opened to Furman pre-health students later. There will be a salad dinner available at 6:00 at no charge, but please request the meal. Registration is required.

Description: Despite data showing that patients want physicians to address their spiritual issues, very few do so in practice. Should doctors talk to patients about their spiritual concerns? If so, how should they do that? Are there any limits or ethical boundaries to such discussions?

***Required Registration Information: Send to sharon.dilworth@furman.edu (subject: Sulmasy)***
