“Spirituality & End-of-Life Care: What I Learned from Fred”
November 2, 6:30, Daniel Chapel
Speaker: Dr. Daniel Sulmasy, MD, Ph.D. (Director of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Senior Research Scholar, Georgetown University)
In this lecture, Fred’s story is formative in Dr. Sulmasy’s thinking, and this unique but also universal end-of-life narrative is the vehicle for conveying his philosophy of patient care. Fred’s last days were an interesting journey that intersected with many of the choices that physicians sometimes have to make or sometimes ignore, perhaps to the detriment of all concerned. After this heart-felt narration, Dr. Sulmasy will entertain questions and elaborate further on the personal, theological, and ethical dimensions of the issues that are part of caring not only for the dying but also for many other patients.
