Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to a screening of the PBS documentary “Learning Wild,” which follows the Furman study away course “Wild Semester” through the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. Watch as students in the fall of 2022 learn from several professional conservationists from state, federal and private organizations. Furman alumni, who either went through the Wild Semester themselves or were research students of Travis Perry, professor of Biology, often come back to assist with the program. They even assist with large carnivore research, a unique engaged learning experience for the class. In one scene, the students have the chance to participate in the capture of a black bear.
Professor Perry will discuss the film and take questions after the screening.
