Furman University alumna and LPGA great Dottie Pepper ’87 was honored with the Old Tom Morris Award presented by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. The award is presented to an individual who, through an enduring lifetime commitment to the game of golf, has helped shape the welfare of the game in a way and style exemplified by Old Tom Morris, a four-time British Open winner and greenkeeper at Scotland’s St. Andrews. The news was published in GCM (Golf Course Magazine) and on TurfNet.

A member of the Furman Athletic Hall of Fame and a three-time All-American, Pepper led the Paladins to three top-four finishes at the NCAA Championships. At Furman, she majored in health and physical education (now health sciences) with a business minor. She joined the LPGA in 1988 where she spent 16 years on the tour, winning 17 events. She made history in 2020 when she became the first walking reporter on the grounds of Augusta National during CBS’s coverage of the Masters.
