The Greenville Journal and UpStateBizSC published news about Furman University and other South Carolina institutions that have received national recognition from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the strength and quality of their teacher education programs. Only 30 institutions across the country received the Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement honor. Nelly Hecker, chair of the Furman Department of Education, said, “CAEP is the gold standard for educator preparation. This recognition provides validation that our students are investing in a program that will provide them with the knowledge of content and teaching strategies needed in today’s schools.”
