Food truck promises summer meals
Greenville County school children in Berea and Travelers Rest have new reasons to celebrate this summer. A food truck was gifted to the school district by a group of Riley Fellows from Furman University’s Riley Institute. Traci Hogan, the school district’s assistant superintendent for special education services, was among the Riley Fellows who brainstormed ways to help the community in a meaningful, sustainable way. Hogan was present for the unveiling of the truck and its first service of meals at Travelers Rest United Methodist Church. “Greenville County Schools is the largest school district in the state, but not everybody in our group knew that over half of our students require free and reduced lunch,” she said. Anna Mitchell of The Greenville News covered the celebration.
