AD Buddie rejoins NY Yankees to celebrate ’98 World Series

During the 1998 season for the New York Yankees, Furman University Athletics Director Mike Buddie appeared in 24 games and was credited with four of the 125 wins the Yankees notched on the way to the World Series title. A relief pitcher for the team, Buddie returned to the Bronx recently for a 20th anniversary celebration. Manie Robinson of The Greenville News spoke to Buddie who said, “Any time you get to go to New York and get the VIP treatment, it’s never a bad thing … Most of [my teammates] are unlike me in that they didn’t need to get a real job when they retired. But I also enjoy catching up with guys that were more like me, who never made their millions and are now doing something else they’re excited about.”
