Theatre presents musical “If/Then” by Kitt and Yorkey

||

Furman University Theatre will present the musical If/Then Nov. 8-11 and Nov. 15-18 at 8 p.m., with matinee performances Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. All performances take place in The Playhouse on the Furman University campus.

Directed by Furman Theatre professor Maegan Azar, If/Then is open to the public. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and $12 for students.

From the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning team that produced Next to Normal, Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics) craft an original, romantic story in which “Choice and fate collide for a woman at the crossroads of her life.”

Says the Chicago Tribune, “If/Then has some lovely insights into how the phantom pains of missing a life we never had can haunt and shape our choices—and that we can always find something new to live for, if we just remember to look up every once in a while.”

The cast includes:

Anne Morgan as Elizabeth
Elizabeth Budinoff (understudy: Emily Lanter) as Kate
Elli Caterisano (understudy: Clare Beth McConnell) as Anne
Dayanari Umana as Elena
Andy Teye as Lucas
Patrick Fretwell (understudy: Joshua Taylor) as Josh
Alan Smith as David
Clark Spillane as Stephen

Azar is Associate Professor of Acting and Directing at Furman University, past president of the South Carolina Theatre Association, secretary of the Southeastern Theatre Conference Executive Committee, and an Artistic Associate at The Warehouse Theatre. She holds a bachelor’s from East Tennessee State University and a Master’s of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama.
