Gil Allen Book

The Final Days of Great American Shopping is a collection of short stories from Gilbert Allen.

Dr. Gil Allen, the Bennette E. Geer Professor of Literature Emeritus at Furman, has published a new book, The Final Days of Great American Shopping.  The book, described as an “affectionate satire of the culture of self-indulgence,” is a collection of sixteen closely linked stories that expose the American obsessions with money, mass marketing and material objects.  A writer with The Charlotte Observer says it’s a book you should pay attention to.
