A new vision for Furman
In its 189 year history, Furman has had just a dozen individuals who have headed the university as president. And in March, Dr. Elizabeth Davis was formally inaugurated as Furman’s 12th President, taking her place among former presidents who made their mark on the university; names like Furman, Plyler, Blackwell, Johns and Shi. In an editorial for WYFF-TV, president and general manager John Soapes says that Davis has become a part of the community during her nine months in office and has begun forming her vision for Furman, a vision she outlined in her inaugural address.
