SOAR Scholars Program

The SOAR Scholars program was a $600,00 award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to Furman University providing tuition assistance (up to $10,000/year) to three cohorts of entering freshman intending to major in chemistry or biology, demonstrate academic merit and significant financial need, and exhibiting a passion for science beyond the classroom.

Although completed in 2018, subsequent renewal applications to this effort are currently in development.

SAFE Passage

A key component of the SOAR program, SAFE passage sets the stage as the incoming cohort of students spend 5 days (4 nights) living together in the dorms and attending courses, getting a snap shot of the academic expectation awaiting them in the fall.
