Each summer, a limited number of research opportunities are extended to local high school students.  These 6-week research experiences provide a chance for early research exposures for students with an interest in pursuing a STEM major/career and those considering Furman as a potential college choice.

In recent years, Furman’s capacity to place significant numbers of high school students into research labs has become more limited, concomitant with a marked increase in Furman students completing on campus research.

If you are interested in being considered for a summer research experience, please email Dr. John Kaup at John.kaup@furman.edu  Dr. Kaup will provide an application form that will allow us  to determine if there is a possible match.  After review, if we identify a research opportunity or require any additional information, we will reach out.

Research assignments with high school students are not made until at least mid/late March.
