It’s Homecoming week and it has been so fun to see everyone preparing for this weekend’s festivities.
COVID Dashboard
Once again, there were no positive student or employee COVID-19 cases on campus this past week. Thank you for your continued diligence in keeping our community healthy and safe.
The Furman Focused Dashboard has been updated today and will continue to be updated each Monday and Thursday.
Homecoming Weekend COVID protocols
- Masking is required for all visitors in campus housing. Per the Housing & Residence Life Guest Policy, resident students are expected to agree on who is allowed in their shared housing space.
- Masking is required at all other indoor locations(except for the Dining Hall) for all individuals from Friday at 5 p.m. through Sunday at 5 p.m.
- The Dining Hall will remain open only to students, faculty and staff.
- Indoor events with food that mix students with the external community (e.g., alumni, campus visitors and the general public) are not permitted. These events should be planned at outdoor venues.
Flu shot tent next Thursday
The Earle Student Health Center will be hosting a flu shot clinic for students on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 12-2 p.m. at the tent outside the Dining Hall on the Clark Murphy Complex side.
Students can also get a flu shot at the Earle Student Health Center. Please call 864-522-2000 or email fumanstudenthealth@prismahealth.org to schedule an appointment. COVID-19 and flu symptoms are similar, so the ESHC will test for both when students are symptomatic.
Adjusted guest policy for student events
Student organizations may now invite individual guests who are not Furman students (e.g., friends, dates, etc.) to student-sponsored social events on and off campus. See details outlined on the Fall 2021 Plan website.
Adjusted policy for guests in dining locations
The Dining Hall is still only available to students, faculty and staff. However, invited guests who are on campus for official university business, excluding prospective students, are permitted to eat in other dining locations. For example, a candidate interviewing on campus may eat in the Paddock with their host, or a guest classroom speaker may eat in the P-Den with their faculty host.
Cloth masks to be distributed to students
The RA staff will be distributing cloth masks to all residential students in the coming days. Resident students, see your RA for your mask. Only one mask per student, please. Commuting students may visit the Student Life office in the Trone Student Center to get their mask.Remember, disposable masks at the entrances of buildings are only available for campus guests. Students, faculty and staff are expected to provide their own cloth or disposable mask. Cloth masks should include at least two layers of fabric that fully cover the nose and mouth and fit snugly and comfortably against the side of the face.
Spring 2022 Course Schedule
Given the successful management of COVID-19 on campus this semester, we will return to pre-pandemic course start/end times for the Spring 2022 semester. These times are accurately reflected in the Spring 2022 course listings found in Workday.
