Tuition Exchange/ACS

The deadline to apply for Tuition Exchange and ACS for Furman University is January 1.

All tuition exchange decisions will be made no later than April 1, at which time your financial aid package may be adjusted.

Beginning with first-year students enrolling in the Fall 2022, TE recipients will be awarded a full-tuition scholarship. All previously awarded Tuition Exchange recipients will receive the TE amount confirmed in their Offer of Financial Aid.

ACS recipients will be awarded the cost of tuition. There is a $4,000 application fee which is paid half by Furman and half by the family.

The number of selected recipients varies year to year depending on the needs of the university.

No, you can apply before you are admitted to the university. However, all applicants must apply for admission to Furman via the Common App  or the Coalition Application as only admitted applicants are reviewed for scholarship eligibility. You may apply for admission under any of the application plans.

Your parent must complete an application with their Human Resources department at your home institution. Furman does not require any separate paperwork. Once your institution approves your application, Furman will be notified of your eligibility.

Transfer students and currently enrolled students are not eligible for the Tuition Exchange/ACS scholarship at Furman. Students are reviewed for scholarship eligibility upon admittance to Furman University as a new first time student.

The university makes tuition benefits available after two years of service to full-time employees and their eligible dependents in three major categories. Only one of the three options is available at a time.

1. Furman Tuition Benefit – available to full-time employees and their eligible dependents that meet the admissions requirements for the undergraduate or graduate programs at Furman and are enrolled to complete a degree.

2. Tuition Exchange Programs – available for dependent children of full-time faculty and staff with other private colleges of the Associated Colleges of the South and with colleges in the Tuition Exchange, Inc. Dependents are eligible to apply for a Tuition Exchange award but are not guaranteed a scholarship.

3. Tuition Scholarship Grant –  a cash tuition scholarship available to dependent children of full-time faculty or staff who are full-time students pursuing a degree at an accredited undergraduate two-year or four-year institution.

4. Job-Related Tuition Reimbursement – available to all full-time staff who attend accredited institutions, other than Furman, and take job-related courses. The university will reimburse the employee up to $250 per semester and up to a maximum of $500 per year for courses that have been pre-approved by the department manager and a Human Resources representative. A grade of “C” or better must be obtained to receive reimbursement.
