When it comes to our knowledge of careers, our scope is often limited to the occupations that have been modeled by people close to us or even observed through TV and the media. We often don’t know what we don’t know and because of this truth, it’s important to spend time exploring occupations that may or may not be familiar to you.

As you discover various occupations in hopes of narrowing your own personal career pathway, it’s important to keep in mind that your major does not specifically tie you to a specific career path. While some majors strongly relate to career options (ie. teaching, accounting), the competencies are you gaining through your liberal arts education at Furman are preparing you to enter a wide variety of careers.
