Audience Etiquette

Visiting the Playhouse

When attending a production in The Playhouse at Furman University, you are joining us on an educational endeavor. The company that works on every production is comprised of students with the goal of learning professional theatrical practices, and professionals that are mentoring and training those student company members. We value your support in keeping the tradition of live theatre blossoming!

Late Seating

Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager at a time that will least disrupt other patrons and performers. If there are empty seats 5 minutes prior to curtain, whether they have been previously purchased or not, we may release those tickets to our waiting list or student rush list. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to secure your seat for the production.

Smoking is prohibited in all indoor locations on Furman’s campus. Smoking is also prohibited within 25 feet of any building entrance or operable window, which includes The Playhouse front porch.

Technology in the Audience

The use of recording devices, audio or video, is strictly prohibited in the theatre due to copyright regulations. We ask that you please silence any personal electronic device as it is a disruption to the performers and fellow audience members.

Lost and Found

Found items should be given to the House Manager. If you have lost an item at The Playhouse, please contact our Box Office to inquire about its recovery: 864.294.2125.
