Furman will host an in-person Opening Rounds Championship Series (ORCS) tournament in 2023, which is the second round of the American Mock Trial Association’s (AMTA) annual national tournament structure. The Bell Tower Tournament is one of 8 ORCS events staged across the U.S., and the three-day competition will host the top teams from each of AMTA’s regional tournaments. The top six teams from each ORCS tournament will advance to AMTA’s National Championship Tournament in April. Founded in 1985, AMTA serves as the governing body for intercollegiate mock trial competitions. Each year, more than 7,000 undergraduate students representing 750 teams from over 400 colleges and universities compete in AMTA-sanctioned tournaments.
