Strategic Plan Feedback Sessions Begin Thursday

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Strategic planning is underway at Furman.

The Strategic Planning Team has been working with our consultant, Credo, to synthesize the input provided during Community Day and by other stakeholders. They are ready to share their progress with the campus for feedback.

Three strategic themes have emerged from this work: (1) A Thriving Community (2) A University of Innovation and Consequence, and (3) An Inspiring and Visible Brand.

We will hold three sessions for our campus community to learn about potential strategic initiatives and provide input.

  • Thursday, Nov. 9, 4-5:30 p.m., Watkins Room, Trone Student Center
  • Friday, Nov. 17, 12:30-2 p.m., Hartness Pavilion
  • Monday, Nov. 27, 8:30-10 a.m., Watkins Room, Trone Student Center

What is the format of the sessions?

The sessions are interactive and similar to a conference poster session with three stations that reflect the themes noted above. Each theme has a dedicated team of faculty and staff who have identified several potential initiatives. The descriptions of these initiatives will be posted for attendees to review. Team members will be at their group’s poster to explain and describe initiatives, answer questions and hear input.

Attendees can spend as much time as they choose at each theme or poster. Participants may provide feedback directly to team members who are present or give anonymous feedback using a QR code to an online form.

Stickers will be available for attendees to indicate on the posters which initiatives they are most and least enthusiastic about.

Do I need to attend all 3 feedback sessions?

No. Faculty and staff are welcome to attend more than one session, but each session will be set up in the same fashion.

Do I have to arrive at the start time and do I have to attend for the entire time?

No. Attendees may come and go as they see fit. We envision faculty and staff spending time at each theme station/poster to learn about initiatives and provide feedback. How much time this involves is up to the attendees.  There will not be a formal presentation but will be interactive by theme stations.

We look forward to these opportunities to gather as a campus and discuss developing elements of the plan that will drive the university forward over the next three to five years.

If you have questions about the feedback sessions or the strategic planning process, please contact Beth Pontari or Connie Carson.
