Valeska Minkowski received her PhD in fisheries and aquatic sciences. Her research focus was on Diadema antillarium in response to coral reef restoration. With a passion for sustainability she moved to Greenville and started an indoor aquaculture facility, Urban Seas Aquaculture, to promote healthy fisheries through aquaculture.

She implements how all aspects of the biosphere are integrated in human social and economic values to create sustainable living and development.

Research Interests

Valeska's previous research and interests lie in coral reef restoration and health. She has spent numerous hours underwater assessing reef health and resilience in response to over fishing and human consumption. After moving to Greenville, she focused her research on promoting sustainable fisheries through aquaculture and education. She started Urban Seas Aquaculture, an indoor aquaculture facility selling shrimp for local consumption.
