As Vice President and General Counsel, Meredith is responsible for directing and overseeing the University’s Office of the General Counsel, Office of Risk Management, and Office of Compliance and Internal Investigations.  To learn more, visit the Office of the General Counsel website.

Before coming to Furman in 2017, Meredith practiced law with the international law firm McGuireWoods LLP in the areas of higher education, nonprofit governance, and mergers and acquisitions. A frequent speaker on legal matters facing colleges and universities, she taught classes on higher education law at the Washington and Lee University School of Law for over ten years. She currently serves as Chair of the Law Board of Visitors of the Wake Forest University School of Law; on the Board of Directors for Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc., College Insurance Company, and College Risk Retention Group, Inc.; on the Board of Directors for Artisphere; and on the Committee on Finance and Audit for the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA).  Meredith is a member of the South Carolina, North Carolina, and United States Supreme Court bars.

A member of the class of 2005, Meredith graduated from Furman magna cum laude with degrees in psychology and French and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law magna cum laude in 2010, where she was executive editor of the Wake Forest Law Review and a member of the law honor society Order of the Coif.  She has two children, Dayton and Jack.
