Daniel A. Stout, (PhD, Rutgers) is Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies at Furman University. He is former director of the Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Other tenured-faculty appointments include the University of South Carolina, Brigham Young University, and BYU Hawaii. His research explores the interplay between communication, media, and religion. He is the founding co-editor of the Journal of Media and Religion (Routledge) and the author or editor of several books including, Media and Religion: Foundations of an Emerging Field (Routledge) and the Routledge Encyclopedia of Religion, Communication, and Media. His articles appear in numerous journals such as Critical Studies in Media Communication, Mass Communication and Society, and RELIGION. Professor Stout has received numerous honors and awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC)’s Religion and Media Interest Group in 2022
