A simple experiment by Furman University sociology and philosophy graduate Virginia Wayt earned her “viral” distinction for her Instagram page and landed her in the headlines of the Aiken Standard. Wayt ’23, an Aiken, South Carolina, native, posts videos and other content about knitting on her Instagram, virgina.k.knits. She launched the page to see how long it would take to go viral if she posted every day. Three weeks after the start of her experiment testing the IG algorithm, she was rewarded. A video she uploaded through Reels about yarn bombing did the trick. Learn more about yarn bombing, knitting with glass and other creative yarn projects in the article by Taylor Beltz.
