Politics reporter Kirk Brown of the Independent Mail says South Carolina’s voter-turnout percentage may be among the highest in decades. He turned to Furman’s Danielle Vinson, a politics and international affairs professor, to explain why. She said, “People do realize that elections have consequences and they care about those consequences.” Vinson also noted the high-profile U.S. Senate race between Republican Lindsey Graham and Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison.
