In the South Carolina Daily Gazette, Furman University’s Danielle Vinson explains why a good showing in the Democratic primary is important even when there’s a clear frontrunner. Vinson, a politics and international affairs professor, said strong voter turnout can alter the media narrative swirling around a candidate, especially in the case of President Joe Biden who is not enjoying popularity among the Democrats at the moment. Vinson also commented on the dynamics of the Black vote for both parties in South Carolina.
