Amid congressional hearings about banning the popular social media platform TikTok, FOX Carolina News reached out to Furman University for its take. The local news station spoke with 2018 Furman alumna Lindsey O’Brien, assistant director of digital marketing for University Communications. She said the platform plays an important role in recruiting and in communicating with current students. But should a ban be enforced, communications efforts will rely on other platforms such as Instagram, which is among the applications in Furman’s social media stable. FOX Carolina aired the story March 13 on it 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts.
