Ahead of Randall David Cook’s world premiere of “Theatre/Theater,” two local news outlets take the opportunity to shine light on the play set to open Oct. 15 in The Playhouse on the Furman University campus.

Longtime arts journalist Paul Hyde of Greenville Journal spoke with 1991 Furman alum Cook about the production, and The Post and Courier’s Avery Beaton previewed “Theatre/Theater” as well as other plays in the Furman Made season. “Theatre/Theater” is an amalgam of nine short plays that follows a Southern theater company as it stages “Romeo and Juliet.” “It’s like snapshots of a day in the life of this regional theater company,” Cook ’91 told Hyde.

In the Post and Courier, Furman’s Maegan Azar said the 2026-2027 Furman Made season honors Furman’s bicentennial while also highlighting the talents of Furman students and alumni. “We wanted to celebrate a season that is focused on shared purpose and experimentation,” she said.
