No matter what culture you’re from, everyone dances, and Furman University members of the Afrikiya student organization united the campus community through dance, music, poetry and more at their annual event, Afro Night Out, on Nov. 6 in Burgiss Theater. Furman’s student body represents 58 countries from around the world, and the students of Afrikiya highlight the vibrant cultures of Africa by having international students show off their country’s flags and cultural dances from their homes. The student-organized event also featured the Furman University Gospel Ensemble and performances by the Purple Diamonds.
