Kyle Longest, an assistant professor of sociology, was quoted in a Greenville News article about stay-at-home moms who are becoming work-at-home moms.   He said the mom entrepreneur trend is part of a broader movement.

“It’s less as a revenue-generating mechanism and more as a tool to gain more control over their time and the type of work that they pursue,” says Longest, who has researched the topic with Phillip Kin of the University of Wisconsin.
